New Year’s Resolutions

New Year ResolutionsWell, we’re about halfway through March. That’s almost one-fourth the way through 2017.

How are your New Year’s Resolutions doing? Are you going strong? Stumbling but still trying? Or are your Resolutions among the 80% that fail by February?

I made three New Year’s Resolutions this year and am not doing great on them, but I haven’t given up yet either.

That’s kind of a win, right?

These are my three New Year’s Resolutions for 2017:

1. Stop judging others and put the “best construction” on their decisions and actions, even especially when I don’t agree with them.

This is hard! It’s so easy to judge and gossip and make yourself feel better by putting someone else down. Until I imagine how I’d feel if the shoe was on the other foot. Ouch, that hurts!

I’ve found it’s easier when I’m communicating via keyboard instead of talking. When I’m talking my mouth tends to go faster than my brain. A sub-resolution Is that a thing? is to just shut up and think before talking. That’s super-hard, but worth working on.

2. Get my butt into bed at 10:00pm so I can have the 8 hours of sleep I need to be the best wife, mommy, childcare provider, and overall ME that I can be.

Considering it’s 10:30pm right now, I’m obviously still struggling with this one. I always seem to have “just one more quick thing” to do, which is never just one and is never quick. Case in point” I’ll just quick whip out this blog post that’s been on my mind…

I’m thinking I might need to take drastic measures and bribe myself: $1 per night, plus a $2 bonus each week I don’t miss any nights. “They” say it takes 21 days to form a habit, so if I get to bed on time for 21 days in a row, with bonuses I’ll have enough for a new pair of Lularoe leggings!

3. Use up the samples I’ve collected from various Beauty Boxes the past year.

Now THIS one I’m doing pretty well on. I decided to use just one type of sample – face, body, hair, etc – at a time so I could judge how well each worked. So far I’ve made it through a bunch of face and hair samples, but the makeup samples are taking longer to use up. Not that I’m complaining about generous samples!

Along the same lines I decided to use up the Bath & Body Works products I’d normally put away once their “season” was past – which is why I smelled like Harvest Apple in February and Marshmallow Pumpkin Spice Latte in March.

So if you see me biting my tongue while muttering “10:00 Lularoe, 10:00 Lularoe” under my breath, and notice a scent of S’mores Chocolate Marshmallow Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Pomegranate Cider in the air, you’ll know I’m working on my New Year’s Resolutions.

Wish me luck – I need all the luck I can get!
