Wiggles and Squirrels – a Christmas Photo

Anyone who’s posed for a family photo knows that the more people you have, the harder it is to get everyone to look at the camera and smile at the same time.

Now that our family has grown to thirteen and includes a baby, two wiggly toddlers and a couple of squirrely youngsters, not to mention the family members who NEVER open their eyes in photos it would take a miracle to get a photo with everyone looking at the camera eyes open and smiling all at the same time.

Apparently this wasn’t our year for a miracle, but I think our Christmas photo turned out OK anyway. At the very least, it looks like us – wiggles, squirrels, closed eyes, and everything.

Christmas 2011 PhotoI wouldn’t change a thing for the world.

  1. We just took a big pic for my parents of all 11 grandkids and it was quite the experience! My sister was wiggling her butt and pretending to pick her nose just to get the kids to smile… even with that there isn’t a SINGLE pic where everyone is cooperating!

    • Joquena,

Oh my goodness – 11 children?! That must have been a circus! I remember when my grandparents and we five grandchildren went to have a photo taken… even the professionals couldn’t get my younger brother (who didn’t want to have his photo taken) to uncross his arms or smile. And my grandmother hadn’t worn pantyhose so she had to hide her legs behind my cousin and me.

I’d love to see your photo, if you’re willing to share.

  2. Love it! Our best photo for Christmas involved the guys lying on the ground. In the middle of the desert, not a studio or even on grass.

    • Shan,

Thanks! I have neighbors who always take a family photo during summer vacation to use in their Christmas cards. It’s nice to see a bit of summer in the middle of cold Wisconsin winters.
